THE TEN COMMANDMENTS ARE

TO BE OBEYED.

There is a very definite theme throughout the Bible - as the following list of Scriptures show - that God requires His Commandments to be kept in the letter and in the spirit.  In fact, we can't get to know God or have our prayers answered in a big way, unless we do keep His Commandments.

1Jn 2:4 NET.  The one who says "I have come to know God" and yet does not keep his commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in such a person.

1Jn 3:21-24 NET.  Dear friends, if our conscience does not condemn us, we have confidence in the presence of God,  (22)  and whatever we ask we receive from him, because we keep his commandments and do the things that are pleasing to him.  (23)  Now this is his commandment: that we believe in the name of his Son Jesus Christ and love one another, just as he gave us the commandment.  (24)  And the person who keeps his commandments resides in God, and God in him. Now by this we know that God resides in us: by the Spirit he has given us.

There are many examples of where people, tribes or nations, kept God's Laws and were blessed, and where those who ignored God's Laws were cursed.

People who say we no longer need to keep the Ten Commandments have to put their faith in less than half a dozen doubtful Scriptures, while ignoring over 100 clear Scriptures that say that we should. Human nature hates being told what to do, so people will go to great lengths to try to get around God's instructions. So what is your source of truth, people or a solid theme of the Bible?

In the first part of the following list, there are many instructions to Israel (the 12 tribes descending from the children of Jacob) about keeping the Commandments.  Keep in mind that God selected Israel to be the model nation that other nations were to look to for guidence  in how to live God's way.  While Israel failed to be that model nation, the instructions that they were given were intended for the whole world, and hence, also apply to us today.
